Hello, I have a Dell PowerEdge R420 with Windows 2012 Standard and was looking to find out what the best install paths I should use for my SQL 2012 Standard 64bit. The SQL database is for a program call JobBOSS and there are only 5 to 10 users using that will be using the database. I’m going to select all of the features in the SQL setup wizard. I have a Raid 1 which is my C drive (SAS 15k 300GB) that has my OS and programs on it, I have a Raid 5 D drive (SAS 15K 600GB) that has all of my shared data. When I’m in the setup I see that there is a “Shared feature directory” path, should I leave that C: or change it to the D: drive? The next section that I can change the paths is in the “Database Engine Configuration” which I have choses for:
- Data root directory
- User database directory
- User database log directory
- Temp DB directory
- Temp DB log directory
- Backup directory
My question for this section is how I should choose which locations should be the C or D drive to get the best possible performance for my type of server configuration.
Thanks Ryan.
