Uninstalling default instance (SQL server 2005) from a migrated server

Hi All,

Currently SQL Server 2005 Enterprise version is installed in  C drive with default instance and we need to migrate all that to 2008 R2 . I'm planning to install new SQL server 2008 R2  version(named instance) into another Drive  and move all the database into that drive and migrate all logins & Jobs . Now my confusion is once I've done with all migration, Is it possible to delete the old SQLserver 2005 version from the Server ? will that cause any issue with existing  2008 R2 Version ?

Our OS is Windows 2008 R2 server .

Cheers,

Sandy
