How to add the MSSQLFDLauncher Service to an existing 2012 Cluster

Hello Forum

I have two SQL Server 2012 cluster environments running on Windows Server 2012 Platforms.  These were set up before I joined the company.  Does anyone have an idea on how to add the MSSQLFDLauncher Service to the cluster?

I'm guessing that: -

  • The Service needs the logon account altering to match the Service Logon account for SQL Server and SQL Server Agent (on all nodes).
  • To edit the Cluster Role to Add Resource/Generic Service and then select the MSSQLFDLauncher Service.
  • Edit the Resource to ensure it is dependent on SQL Server.
  • Perform Failovers to complete the configuration
