Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation.
Error code: 0x84BB0001

Happens on installation for Database Engine Services & SQL server replication

says to follow this link but it doesn't lead anywhere for me:  http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?LinkId=20476&ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&EvtSrc=setup.rll&EvtID=50000&ProdVer=11.0.3128.0&EvtType=0x48BB60BC%400xBB814387&EvtType=0x48BB60BC%400xBB814387

I have the installation log if that would be useful.

Stumped on this one - anybody got an idea what to do?

Move DB from Server 2008 to 2016

Hi,

Currently my SQL2008 server is a VM, i want to move and mount the hard drive containing the database to the SQL2016 VM machine.

Will this work?

Is yes, will the database work smoothly with SQL 2016 ?

Ty,

Migrating to 2014 and alias created for linked server is not connecting

$

We created an alias to another SQL Server and configured it with the correct port number. On 2005, I just referenced the alias name and created the linked server and it worked great and now we don't have to change code if the server changes (where that has already happened twice recently)
But we are migrating off 2005 (finally got the hardware and license) and did the same thing as above on the 2014 server and it's not working. It's not finding the server at all.
I set up the linked server using the full name and port and that linked server works.
What are we missing?

SQL Server 2014 developer edition on Windows Server 2012 - SP2 Setup fails partially

SP2 Setup completed with Errors:
§ Fehler beim Installieren von Instanzfunktionen der SQL Server Database Engine Services
Das Systemdatenverzeichnis des Datenbankmoduls in der Registrierung ist ungültig.
Fehlercode: 0x851A0042

How could you resolve this issue?
I have no idea what is meant by "Das Systemdatenverzeichnis des Datenbankmoduls in der Registrierung ist ungültig."

I would like to show the final setup screen but you (Microsoft) don't let me although I think I verified my account!

Enabling AWE on SQL SERVER 2008

We have a Server running Windows Server 2008 32-bit (Enterprise Edition) and SQL Server 2008 (SP2) 32-bit (Enterprise Edition) installed.

The server has 32 GB Memory and we assigned 22 GB to SQL Server but its using only 1.5 GB.

We have to enable the AWE Option on SQL Server but:

1- Do we have to enable\configure any options on Windows before enabling the option on SQL Server ?

2- How much memory can be assigned to SQL Server on the Enterprise Windows (Max) ?

3- Is there any other thing we should take care of before applying since its a production server ?

Thanks

Connection Timeout Expired. In Sql Server 2005

Hi All,

We are facing Connection time out intermittently in our application (database is sql server 200). Below is the error

Connection Timeout Expired. The timeout period elapsed while attempting to consume the pre-login handshake acknowledgement. This could be because the pre-login handshake failed or the server was unable to respond back in time.

In some case we are experiencing Time out (this is acceptable due to command time out ), but around 70 percent cases we are facing this issue.

Please let me know how should i fix this issue.

Thanks in advance

Dear Sir,

how to write ConnectionString in SQL Server Import and Export Wizard installation for .Net Framework Data Provider for SqlServer.

Please give one example, because when I am entering constr, it is showing a message property value is not write and Format of the initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 0.

Automated SQL cluster install issue with SSIS

$

So I have a powershell script that does automated clustered SQL installs and works well sans 1 issue.  Basically on the 1st node I am able to set the /ISSVCACCOUNT and /ISSVCPASSWORD command line parameters and the install works fine and SSIS service is setup and ran with the provided AD accounts.

However, when I go to install on the 2nd node (/ACTION=AddNode) I get an error that states:

The setting 'ISSVCPASSWORD' is not allowed when the value of setting 'ACTION' is 'AddNode'.

If I remove /ISSVCACCOUNT and /ISSVCPASSWORD command line parameters from the install it runs fine and adds the node and installs SSIS just fine.  The problem is now that SSIS on the second node is not running under the same authority as the first node.

My question is why can  /ISSVCACCOUNT and /ISSVCPASSWORD be specified when installing with /ACTION=InstallFailoverCluster but not when adding additional nodes (/ACTION=AddNode)?  Is there anyway around this?  How do I specify the same SSIS service accounts as the initial cluster install on additional nodes?

Appication cannot connect SQL Server with TLS 1.0 disabled

Hello

I have SQL Server 2014 (fully patched with SP and CU) on one vm (Windows Server 2012 R2). On the second vm (same OS) I have  application. Recently TLS 1.0 has been disabled on all servers and app can't connect SQL now. From app config file I see "Provider=SQLOLEDB.1". I have seen https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3135244/tls-1.2-support-for-microsoft-sql-server and I was able to fix other apps using .NET or ODBC but still don't know how to fix SQLOLEDB.1.

Hello

I have SQL Server 2014 Standard SP2 x64 (12.0.5511.0) on one vm (Windows Server 2012 R2). On the second vm (same OS) I have Excel 2013. Recently TLS 1.0 has been disabled on all servers and user can't import data from SQL.

While filling Data Connection Wizard he is receiving following error:

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (SECDoClientHandshake()).]SSL Security error.

Do you know what have to be done to make it working again?

SQL Server 2008 R2 file locations

Hi.  I know this is an often asked (and answered question), but hoping for a quick reminder and validation of what I found elsewhere.  Besides, it's been quite a while since I've done a SQL install.

I need to install SQL Server 2008 R2 on a VM with shared storage.  I have only C, D, and L available to me.  I know to isolate user databases on D:, and tran log files on L:  Is there a reason not to install all binaries and shared files on C:?  Can I put all databases files (including system and user databses) in the same folder on D:, and all tran logs (including system and user logs) in the same folder on L:?  Or should I separate system files from user files?  Should I push the storage guy for a separate LUN/volume for tembdb database, or is that no longer necessary with shared storage?

Thanks!

SP1 for SLQServer2016 installation failed: error code 0x851A0018

Hi all,

as per post title, I am not able to install the SP1 for SQLServer2016 through the file 'SQLServer2016SP1-KB3182545-x64-ITA'.
Here is what I get:

Error while installing Functional instance of the services of the SQL Server Database Engine
Unable to stop the instance with process ID 2716. Error Detected: Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.Sco.ScoException: The service can not accept control messages at this time. --- System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception>: The service can not accept control messages at this time. in Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.Sco.Service.ControlService (UInt32 dwControlCode) in Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.Sco.Service.StopService (Boolean bStopDependents) in Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.Sco.Service.StopServiceWait (Int32 dwTimeout, Boolean bStopDependents ) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.Sco.Service.StopServiceWait (Int32 dwTimeout, Boolean bStopDependents) in Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.Sco.Service.StopServiceWait (Int32 dwTimeout , Boolean bStopDependents) in Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.SqlEngine.SqlServerServiceSCM.StopSqlServer (Boolean withFailpoint)

Error Code: 0x851A0018.

Well, I stopped the process ID 2716, which is exactly 'sqlservr.exe'.
By trying to install it again, the error changes to the service NT'SQLSERVER'.
I tried to identify it, but I am not sure I managed this one in the proper way: indeed, the retry-installation stopped because of it.

Is there anyone who faced the same issue or an expert who could help me, please?
Thank you very much!
