I haven't had a lot of luck installing SQ2K8SP3 on my two node cluster. (And I'm starting to wonder if it can be done.)
Largely, I think, because the installation routine can't find the disk available to it on the node where I'm running the installation. The cluster validation is almost perfect, but installation routine for SQL2K3 says it isn't.
I've cleared a lot of IP errors out just by pushing the heartbeat cable back into the slot it backed out of.
I'm down to the registerallprovidersip, which should be set to '0', but is '1'.
It complains, still that the cluster doesn't pass validation, even though the validation reports claim nothing much is wrong.
It doesn't find my clustered instance of MSDTC and complains that the MSDTC is not clustered./
Common sense says I can do it, but the extraneous distractions are making me wonder.
