Hello
I have a SQL server and I want to install another SQL Server with the same settings
Is it possible to spend INI file and path to install the new SQL server?
thanks
I have been receiving the following alerts from this error message as shown below:
Operating system error:317(The system cannot find message text for message number 0x345in the message filefor1033.).Check that sqlevn70.rll is installed in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn\Resources\1033,where1033is
the language ID of US English,or the appropriate folder for the localeinuse. Also check memory usage.
The root directory of this MSSQL instance is at E:\drive, which I think might be the why it is causing that error.
I have googled and seen what other people have suggested, and mostly is suggesting of uninstalling and re-installing the MSSQL. But this is a production instance, and I am trying to avoid this approach as this might cause a bigger impact to the business.
Hence, I have tried the following steps:
However, it doesn't seems to help and I still received the same error message.
Could anyone advice me on how to resolve this error message?
Thank you!
Hi!
I'm trying to repair an SQL 2008 instance, but it the middle of the process i get this error:
SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:
C:\Windows\Installer\3a47159.msi.
I don't know what file this is (or referring), and on the Internet there is nothing about it.
(i used this tutorial and in the output file doesn't appear nothing related to this missing file: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/969052)
Any ideas?!
Thanks!
Context: Creating an installation package for a windows app that uses SQL Express. Using WIX. In general, the WIX setup files are working, just the SQL install failed so I fell back to running the .msi directly and that also fails.
I have the same error as in this forum post: How do I install SQL Express 2014 LocalDB on Windows 8.1? The answers on that post have not led me to the issue and I haven't really made any headway on other forums. The error message is:
"Installation of this product failed because it is not supported on this operating system. For information on supported configurations, see the product documentation."
The installation target is a Hyper-V guest machine as follows: 2G RAM, 14.5 GB free on the C: drive, 2.5 GHz CPU. I turned .NET 3.5 on.
I used a .msi file from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42299 and selected "LocalDB 32BIT\SqlLocalDB.msi".
I have a hard time believing it's not supported on a VM since that is such a logical place to test applications using SQL express.
One of my problems is not even seeing a log file. The location in Program files doesn't exist and I don't know where else to look.
Update after initial post: So this link suggests SQL Express 2014 won't work in virtualized machines other than on servers, but I'm assuming that limitation is for the Hyper-V host, not the guests. Also, at the Microsoft link above I downloaded this install file, Express 32BIT\SQLEXPR_x86_ENU.exe, and that worked just fine, including from within the WIX install package as part of the install chain/bundle. so clearly SQL Express works just fine. But that's not what we would want to use for an end user is it? Don't we just want the light-weight LocalDB package? So I think I've isolated my real question as stated above, why doesn't the simple SQL 2014 Express LocalDB .msi file install?
And with regard to virtualization, isn't testing apps on VM's the desired and acceptable practice?
I attempted a "aide by side" installation of SQL 2012 BI and SQL 2012 Standard. There were a few errors during the install, but the installation completed. SQL BI is still working, but SQL Standard will not start and I cant access SQL Management Studio. This is the installation log:

I am getting the impression I need to reinstall SQL. The installer won't run and the Windows Uninstaller won't run, either.
I am doing a "side by side" install of SQL 2012 BI and SQL 2012 Standard. After the installation of Standard, I am receiving this error when opening Management Studio:
I must have screwed up the licensing when installing the second instance of SQL 2012.
I am only an average user. I installed some programs. I got a notice that SQL 2005 should be 2014 but I don't know anything about this. What should I do?
TY
Hi I am trying to install dqs client on this box, but I get this screen... Does it mean that someone removed the installers? (how can I look for them?) Is there any way I can install dqs client without those installers?
I want to include the msi for SQL Server Express 2014 LocalDB with a .NET app, but it looks like you need a different one for 32-bit and 64-bit OS. This means making an installer package with both (adding 44Mb to the size), or creating separate installers for different target OS, or making the prerequisite a download, which requires the user to have internet access when installing. None of these solutions is very good.
What are the options?

While I am trying to install SQL Server, I am getting this error message:
native sql install bootstrapper has stopped working
Could any one please help me to resolve this problem ?
Some background ...
My corporate IT pushed a number of Windows updates to my PC. Some of them weren't installing. Not sure if any of them were related to SQL Server directly. Our IT people had a hard time getting the updates installed. After all this, I was no longer able to open Management Studio. We tried the SQL Server repair utility, but it froze (no progress after letting it run overnight). Now I'm trying to uninstall SSMS so that we could reinstall it, but the removal utility has hung as well. I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise.
I'm attempting to push Service Pack 3 for SQL Server 2012 to a couple of our testing database servers (running different versions of Windows, same version of SQL) via our internal WSUS server.
WSUS server: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
SQL Server 2012 #1: Microsoft SQL Server 2012 - 11.0.5613.0 (X64) May 4 2015 19:05:02 Copyright (c)
Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition: Core-based Licensing (64-bit) on
Windows NT 6.3 <x64>(Build 9600: )
SQL Server 2012 #2: Microsoft SQL Server 2012 - 11.0.5343.0 (X64) May 4 2015 19:11:32 Copyright (c)
Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition: Core-based Licensing (64-bit) on
Windows NT 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)
I've created a computer group in WSUS with the servers as members, and approved update thehttps://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3072779 update. I've run wuauclt /resetauthorization, /reportnow etc., and WUA does not detect SP3 as being required, and in the WSUS console, the service pack shows as not applicable. Is there some prerequisite which I'm missing? Or is there some sort of problem with the detection logic?
Thanks for your help!
I have a set of SQL maintenance jobs configured on a Live server running SQL 2012 SP2 and would like to copy (export/import, if possible) to other servers as well.
I also have a Test SQL 2014 installed on my desktop.
What are my options? Some mentioned using SSIS, some said use external, Powershell for example, scripts to accomplish it. I would like to understand the options, if some Microsoft and/or third party tools available to accomplish this work.
Thanks
I have a need for the above.
I downloaded the following:
I double click the _install.exe (x64) and nothing happens. I see a window coming up and unpacking the boxes and that's it. Nothing happens.
I have SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition running on my computer (a x64 bit laptop)
Developer Edition
11.0.2100.60
The server instance has the following for version number:
11.0.2218
I am planning to use the Enterprise version for a class I will be teaching. I am surprised that nothing happens after the executable is run, no messages, nothing.
Do I need to run the SQL Server 2012 SP3 (or Sp2) first?
Can Developer edition and Enterprise coexist?
I have a couple of left over programs in my Control panel. Is there a way to clean them up?
Is it possible to buy the SQL Server 2012 Developer edition DVD? if yes, where?
Does SQL Server 2014 Enterprise install on Windows 10 Desktop? I just need fully functional SSRS 2014.

http://v-consult.be/2011/05/26/recover-sa-password-microsoft-sql-server-2008-r2/
by chance viewed this page, and it worked for me to add myself to sysadmin when we lost sa password and no user account has sysadmin right.
Wondering if this is by design, will this be security risk?
